Oh Mamaaaaaa! I want to see The Druuummsssss! This is probably the nagging that mothers around Miami will have to listen to before The Drums take the stage at Grand Central on Friday October 28th. Their surfer on acid feel and ADD like song pace make them a diamond in the rough in the generic indie-pop world. Their new album Portamento hit store shelves on September 12th reaching the top 50 in the UK charts in its first week. After a tumultuous few years for The Rapture with lead singer Luke Jenner leaving and coming back, bassist Mattie Safer leaving in 2009 and their record being pushed back a year it seems the group is finally back on track. In September they released their 4th studio album: In The Grace of Your Love and now they are bringing their talents down to Grand Central for a night of dancing, dancing, and did I mention dancing? With an infamous live set that is guaranteed to give your body a work out there will be no need for the gym on Monday morning. Poolside will be opening for them and DJ Essential 6 will keep the party going well into the night. Tickets are going for $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Searching through some of our footage i stumbled across another gem from the drunken night at the Bruise Cruise pre party. Every band playing was trying to top one another but Thee Oh Sees really set the bar high. Pushing people into stage dives and just being all around rowdy the band reenergized the crowd with a raucous set that blew the top of an already crazy room. After a very long night of drinking and filming, Black Lips took the stage at the Bruise Cruise pre-party at Grand Central a while back. Tired and sweaty the crowd still pushed forward with unbridled enthusiasm making the set one of the hi lights of the whole night. If you haven’t witnessed first hand the explosive show that Diplo puts on then you’re truly missing out on a good night of partying. His mixes can go from face melting electro drops to Gucci Mane before you even know what hit you. Just read his twitter and you will get a small view into the acid trip that is Diplo’s mind.
