On October 22nd the Heavy Pets debuted their third full length album “Swim Out Past The Sun” at The Stage here in Miami. For this album they went a little different route from their usual rhythm and blues/reggae/jazz-funk style and did an entirely acoustic album. With songs like 3AM and Bridge you can still hear the classic Heavy Pets, but with a whole new twist. We were able to catch up with guitarist Jeff Loyd and ask him some questions after his East Coast tour. Interview after the jump! Continue reading
Oh Mamaaaaaa! I want to see The Druuummsssss! This is probably the nagging that mothers around Miami will have to listen to before The Drums take the stage at Grand Central on Friday October 28th. Their surfer on acid feel and ADD like song pace make them a diamond in the rough in the generic indie-pop world. Their new album Portamento hit store shelves on September 12th reaching the top 50 in the UK charts in its first week. We cannot wait for this show and we would love for one of you guys to join us for free. All you have to do to enter is follow us on twitter @Miamigrime and tweet/retweet this post. If you don’t have twitter don’t worry all you have to do is send us an e-mail at admin@miamigrime.com with your contact info. We will be announcing a winner on Friday morning. Tickets will also be available beforehand for $15 here. Doors open at 8 pm so get there on time and prepare to take your weekend by the throat. Check out the video we put together from the last time The Drums came through Grand Central in 2010.
After a tumultuous few years for The Rapture with lead singer Luke Jenner leaving and coming back, bassist Mattie Safer leaving in 2009 and their record being pushed back a year it seems the group is finally back on track. In September they released their 4th studio album: In The Grace of Your Love and now they are bringing their talents down to Grand Central for a night of dancing, dancing, and did I mention dancing? With an infamous live set that is guaranteed to give your body a work out there will be no need for the gym on Monday morning. Poolside will be opening for them and DJ Essential 6 will keep the party going well into the night. Tickets are going for $20 in advance or $25 at the door. We will be giving away a pair of tickets to the show and all you have to do to enter is follow us on twitter @miamigrime and tweet or retweet this post. No twitter? No problem! Just send us an e-mail at admin@miamigrime.com with your info. This is definitely the best way to kick start your week and get the party started early so join the House of Jealous Lovers and boogie on down to Grand Central on Monday.
There is a secret party coming to Miami that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Imagine throwing bingo, body paint, dance music, alcohol, and a bunch of sexy party goers into a cauldron and then dumping it all out onto a secret location in Miami. The outcome would be The Underground Rebel Bingo Club. This isn’t your grandma’s weekend bingo getaway with the gals. This is loud, sexy, unrated, dangerous, addictive, but more than anything: FUN! It’s the brain child of two british guys that found a bingo kit in the basement of a local church hall and started an underground party for their friends. Now they’ve taken their party world wide with stops in cities like London, New York, and Madrid to name a few. Too many details haven’t been leaked about this party, but we do have a pair of tickets to give away to one of our lucky readers. All you have to do is follow us on twitter @miamigrime and retweet this post to automatically enter yourself. On friday morning we will send you a message with the secret location. The party starts at 9 pm so get there early to get a marker and a card and be sure to have a “cover story” ready for the door man because saying you’re there for Rebel Bingo won’t get you in. Prizes range from a huge stuffed panda bear to an inflatable pool and everything in-between. This is going to be a bingo party you can brag about to your retirement home buddies in fifty years so don’t miss out!
Check Out the new Rich Kid Sound System video that dropped today for the song “Not Far From Home.” Shot By Derick G this video brings you Miami exactly the way it is. No bullshit just what it is to call Miami home. Enjoy!
