You definitely don’t want to miss your chance to catch a band that got its start with huge names like The Pixies, Sonic Youth, and Nirvana. Their melodic guitar solos and heavy feedback sound is reminiscent of the early 90′s. Tickets are $26 in advance or $30 at the door. Their opening band Yuck is an indie band from London that perfectly suits this amazing show. Hope to see you all there!

After a tumultuous few years for The Rapture with lead singer Luke Jenner leaving and coming back, bassist Mattie Safer leaving in 2009 and their record being pushed back a year it seems the group is finally back on track. With an infamous live set that is guaranteed to give your body a work out there will be no need for the gym on Monday morning. There is a secret party coming to Miami that is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Imagine throwing bingo, body paint, dance music, alcohol, and a bunch of sexy party goers into a cauldron and then dumping it all out onto a secret location in Miami. The outcome would be The Underground Rebel Bingo Club. This isn’t your grandma’s weekend bingo getaway with the gals. This is loud, sexy, unrated, dangerous, addictive, but more than anything: FUN! It’s the brain child of two british guys that found a bingo kit in the basement of a local church hall and started an underground party for their friends. Now they’ve taken their party world wide with stops in cities like London, New York, and Madrid to name a few. Too many details haven’t been leaked about this party, but we do have a pair of tickets to give away to one of our lucky readers. All you have to do is follow us on twitter @miamigrime and retweet this post to automatically enter yourself. On friday morning we will send you a message with the secret location. The party starts at 9 pm so get there early to get a marker and a card and be sure to have a “cover story” ready for the door man because saying you’re there for Rebel Bingo won’t get you in. Prizes range from a huge stuffed panda bear to an inflatable pool and everything in-between. This is going to be a bingo party you can brag about to your retirement home buddies in fifty years so don’t miss out!
It has been over 12 years since the only Black Star album was released. Thousands of hip-hop albums have come out since “Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star”, but few have made such an impact. This album doesn’t promote the need for money, cars, clothes, and hoes. It spoke the word of anti-materialism, anti-violence, and pro-intelligence. It came at a time when two of the biggest names in hip-hop, Tupac and Biggie Smalls, had been violently murdered. It was a breath of fresh air in a music world that was flooded with violence and death. Next year the world is finally going to get their sophomore album, but until then these two hip-hop juggernauts are bringing their talents down to South Beach to perform at The Fillmore on September 27th. Tickets are a little steep at $63 – $80, but I would pay double that just to catch this duo. Show starts at 8 pm and make sure to be on time since you don’t want to miss a minute of this show.
It was hot. It was sweaty. It was punk rock at its best! First time I saw Blink 182 was in 1999 during the Vans Warped Tour. Mark, Tom, and Travis made it impossible for the audience to have a bad time. If it wasn’t laughing at their incessant joking, it was singing along to every song or dancing non-stop to their fast paced catchy riffs. 12 years later the punk trio is coming back down to South Florida for The Honda Civic Tour along side My Chemical Romance and Matt & Kim. Tickets are in the 30 – 80 dollar range and can be bought here. They already gave us an “indefinite hiatus” once so make sure you make it out to catch a show that might be their last down here. Show starts at 7 pm. See you out there! Check out video of the 1999 show below.
